Cortex Dashboard
AD CAMPAIGN PERFORMANCE DASHBOARDCortex is a full-service tracking platform for publishers seeking ROI optimization and digital marketing analytics. The task was to revamp Cortex’s existing platform to improve the user’s goals of quick data retrieval, managing ad campaigns, and tracking overall system health and data.
I began the project with recorded interviews and observational research of users completing their day to day tasks. From there, a user persona documentation was created, along with a site map and analysis of the user journeys. A fully interactive prototype was presented to express the information architecture and fundamentals of the layout and flows.
In 6 months, we revamp the entire platform experience and design for small group of super users with the sole purpose of managing and tracking ad campaigns. The redesign improved the way-finding and filtering of heavy data even for mobile devices.

UX Phase
―
Using the existing architecture the software had, my role was to jump in and solve the superuser’s pain point of having to dig too deep to find specific data points.
The users of this platform were superuser media buyers, that spent their work day managing many ad campaigns at once. I alleviated the user’s frustration by allowing more data manipulation to happen at the first level of information pages. These included date controls, custom ranges, and filtering mechanisms.
Act Fast
―
The first level screen for Campaigns showed overall campaign performances. The interactive data table just below the chart enabled super users to toggle campaigns on/off fast, drill down to campaign specifics by typing into the filter field, and change monetization strategies in 1-click.
User Interface Design
We optimized it for multiple devices by exposing the navigation. This made access to information always within view. The UI was also designed with truncated data tables that could be expanded to a simplified list view, which reduced the need for horizontal scrolling.
Results
The data management platform was handed off to the Cortex team back in 2017 with very positive feedback. As with any evolving product, a few rounds of iterations have been made to optimize the buyer experience, but the majority of the optimizations still remains.
From End Users
"Understanding which traffic sources are driving our revenue has always been difficult. With Cortex, I know in an instance how all of our media campaigns are performing."

"Cortex is a deceptively simple analytics tool. Without it, we were driving blind regarding which content creators are affecting the most revenue."
